For Furs Only!

Hello, writer.

Thanks for coming by. Allow me to introduce myself, as Boris Badenov used to say. (You are familiar with Rocky & Bullwinkle, aren’t you?) My name’s Joe Strike, and I’ve been a writer, and a fur… well, forever.

Take a look at some of my work. (These pages will open in new windows so you won’t lose this screen; there’s no way back here from the rest of my site because this is a secret, for furs only page.)

I’ve been published by daily and weekly newspapers,

writing about animation in articles like this one and also this one.

I scripted an episode of the Nickelodeon cartoon series Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!

I’ve also written The Incredible Hare, a furry novel to be published in the near future, based on a proposed kids' TV series (which I also wrote). You can read the novel's first three chapters here.)

I’ve written and produced promos and more promos for channels like Bravo and (before it turned into “SyFy”) the Sci-Fi Channel,

I also design my own graphics (like the logo atop this page or the ones here) and do lots of other creative-type stuff including photography and furry cartooning...

OKAY, ENOUGH ABOUT ME – now what can I do for you?

Let’s say you’re a writer, but you’re not too happy with your work.

(In unison: “You’re a writer, but you’re not too happy with your work.” It’s an old Police Squad! gag, but I love that show.)

Your ideas, your characters, your plots are great, but you know you can do better.

Maybe you’re making more typos or spelling errors than your spell-check can keep up with… maybe you’re not sure of your grammar… maybe you just want your work to ‘flow’ better… or maybe you want some advice on plotting and character development.

This is where I come in. (I knocked and no one answered, but the door was wide open...)

I’ll help you with any or all of the above: my services include –

- Basic Proofreading: correcting typoes (like that one), misspellings, grammar, etc.

- Restructuring: In addition to the above, rearranging sentences or paragraphs to aid your narrative flow.

- Editorial Revision and Conceptual Development: I’ll examine your work from the ground up: do your characters ‘work’ – do they make sense, are their actions believable, what do they sound like when they talk… does your basic story make sense – are there holes in your plotting or you’re at a loss for how to wrap up your story?

- Photoshop and Graphic Design (logos, title design, image alteration, special effects, etc.)

I’ll help you with any or all of the above – but there’s a price to be paid. (What do you think, I’m doing this for my health?) I’ll review your work in its current form at no charge and then suggest a fee based on the size, complexity and degree of detail or revision desired or needed. Once we agree on that fee I'll roll up my sleeves (unless I'm wearing a T-shirt) and get to work.

A few last details...

Payment via PayPal is preferred, pal. You retain all ownership of your work and remain its sole author. (An acknowledgement of my editorial assistance within your finished work will be gratefully appreciated.)

Please note that I am not an ‘agent;’ I do not have an ‘in’ with publishers or producers. What I offer is the ability to help you make your work the absolutely best it can be before you self-publish or approach mainstream outlets.

Feel like giving it a shot?
Send me your work as a .doc, .docx or Word-compatible Open Office format in the following dimensions:
Font: Courier or Courier New 12 point; standard 8 ½ x 11 page size with 1” margins on all sides.
(Word count in this format ranges from 225 to 240 words per page.)

Hope to hear from you soon; you can reach me via a private message here on Fur Affinity or via Email at joestrike[at]gmail[dot]com.

Bye!
